CANSA supporters show up in their numbers to get shaved and sprayed

People from all walks of life pitched to give back to CANSA and to pay tribute to those who lost the battle to cancer.

LYDENBURG – Locals showed their support in droves at local Shavathon venues on Saturday February 28. People from all walks of life pitched to give back to CANSA and to pay tribute to those who lost the battle to cancer.

CANSA held its first Shavathon 12 years ago when men, women, children, caregivers, survivors and people personally affected by cancer participated in the event. This is an annual event held in shopping centres across South Africa.

Residents have their hair spraying, cut or shaved in support of cancer patients.

Chrissie de Beer, a patient caregiver at CANSA Lydenburg, said that she would like to thank everyone for the support they received over the weekend.

“We would like to say thank you to the community of Lydenburg, CANSA volunteers, volunteers assistants, Legends, Longtom SUPERSPAR and Spur for allowing us to use their premises and for the refreshments supplied to our team members at the Shavathon venues,” she said.

“A big thank you to businesses that lent us their gazebos and Past Andre Hanekom for the chairs and tables,” she added. All the funds raised through Shavathon events will go towards CANSA initiatives.
