Game viewing remains a popular activity

More than 6500 vehicles in KNP on New Years day, 2015

SKUKUZA – Game viewing seems to have become a popular pastime.

This of course is when one considers that more than 6 500 vehicles visited the Kruger National Park (KNP) on New Year’s Day.

The KNP management said although all the roads were fairly busy, it was at no time unmanageable.

Therehere have been a few complaints about people getting out of their vehicles, and some cutting off visitors in order to achieve a more favourable position for photographs.

Even formal game-drive vehicles have been reported as being arrogant and impatient on park roads. Social media categorised these people as Kruger Idiots.

There have been quite some long queues at certain gates, with the Kruger Gate being the busiest, but nobody was turned away on New Year’s Day.

Road closures hampered some game viewers’ expectations, but alternative roads were identified by field rangers who advised visitors accordingly.

KNP general manager for marketing and communication, Mr William Mabasa, thanked all the visitors for a day well spent, and wished everybody a wonderful and prosperous 2015.
