Multiple fatalities at horror accident

Earlier this morning, Lowvelder received reports of a horrific accident which took place on the R40/Plaston Road at 07:00.

ROCKY DRIFT – Another tragedy has struck on the local roads.

Earlier this morning, Lowvelder received reports of a horrific accident which took place on the R40/Plaston Road at 07:00.

A taxi carrying 15 passengers on its way from Platson to White River/Mbombela failed to stop at the intersection.There were no tyre marks as evidence across the intersection. It was suspected that the brakes might have failed.

The driver lost control of the vehicle and veered off the road into a ditch. On impact, the taxi flipped and the passengers were flung out of the car several metres away from the point of impact.

What could be confirmed was that there were multiple fatalities and seven bodies had been counted. The remaining eight people had sustained serious injuries. Of the eight, one was reported to be in a critical condition, and subsequently airlifted to hospital.

Emergency service are currently on the scene.
