KLCBT pays tribute to Nelson Mandela

We are very sad to say goodbye to this man, but we are not saying goodbye to his spirit

NELSPRUIT – The Kruger Lowveld Chamber of Business and Tourism (KLCBT) has also issued a statement following the death of former president Nelson Mandela.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Madiba, an icon and the father of our nation – the proudest product of South Africa! We thank God and Madiba’s family for sharing him with all of us and we wish to extend our deepest condolences to his family and extended family. May his spirit live forever in the heart and deeds of every South African.”

On a more personal note, Johan Barnard, the president of the chamber said, “Madiba improved himself even when he was in prison, inspired and convinced everyone that there was a better future for his beloved country. He realised and believed that violence wasn’t the answer, but that the solution was in peace.

“We are very sad to say goodbye to this man, but we are not saying goodbye to his spirit. It is our wish that his example of nation building will live on, even in a system that is still polarised by individuals. Every person should strive towards being focused on nation building and sharing Madiba’s vision that South Africa is a country for all.”

Nick Elliot, former president of the KLCBT, added that he too was personally devastated by Madiba’s passing. “We knew for some time that this day would come. God gives life and God takes life. Madiba left a mark on every South African’s life. It is for us to continue to build on the gift and lead a life according to his great example. South Africa is a better place today because of him. We thank God for giving him to us, to South Africa and the world. He was and is a gift to the whole world and I have hope that he will be remembered for his great spirit and wonderful example, and that every person will learn from that. Today, South Africa has lost a father.”
