SuperSport United bagged three points in the Premiership encounter against Orlando Pirates on Wednesday night, defeating the Buccaneers 1-0 at Mbombela Stadium.

Abbubaker Mobara took an early chance with a shot into the 18-yard area. The ball landed at Ben Motshwari’s feet which resulted in a corner as Mobara’s shot came off the defender.

The blue outfit proved to be the better team when man of the match, Clayton Daniels scored the opening goal in the 64th minute from a corner kick.

Pirates got an equalising chance after Happy Jele was granted a penalty kick after a foul. But United’s hero of the game, shot-stopper Ronwen Williams saved the attempt.

Justin Shonga attempted another shot at close range but the ball went over the crossbar.

United walked away with three points and are now are fourth on the log, while Pirates are third.

This was Bucs second consecutive defeat after they lost 2-0 to Tunisian team Esperance de Tunis on February 12.

Before that they had a 27-game unbeaten run in all competitions.
