This man holds the most world Guinness World Records

He even holds the world record for holding the world's most world records - this man redefines versatile.

Ashrita Furman has set more than 500 official Guinness Records since 1979 and currently holds more than 200 standing records including the official record for “the most records held at the same time by an individual”!

According to his webpage, www.ashrita.com, the Guinness Book of Records has always fascinated him.

“As a teenager, I became interested in Eastern spirituality and began studying meditation. Suddenly, I was filled with an inner joy and a seemingly inexhaustible energy. Sri Chinmoy (a meditation teacher) also taught me about his philosophy of self-transcendence, that when you have access to the divine power we all have within us, nothing is impossible. In 1979 I set my first record by doing 27,000 jumping jacks, and it was such a thrill that I immediately began training for the next record and I haven’t stopped since!”

Ashrita’s holds, among others, the following world records:

  1. The world record for the longest under water hula hooping session.
  2. He is the world fastest stilt racer in the 10 km category.
  3. He is the worlds fastest sack racer in the 10 km category.
  4. The world record for one-hand brick carrying for the longest distance.
  5. Ashrita completed the fastest mile while balancing a milk bottle on his head.
