WATCH: Jonathan Peyper brings soul to The Pub

Muso Jonathan Peyper played his last show in Mbombela until further notice.

South African blues and soul artist, Jonathan Peyper, played his last show in Mbombela over the weekend, before he moves to Pretoria to advance his career.

Peyper has signed a contract to work with South African session drummer and musician, Jason Oosthuizen. “I am going to be very busy; we are already booked till July,” he said.

His wife Rozanne will remain in Mbombela until she finds a job.

“I am enjoying spending time with him now. He is my rock. I will miss him when he is gone,” she said.

For the performance at The Pub on Friday night, Peyper played blues and soul.

“Nothing too loud, nothing too soft. Music for the soul,” he explained. He played Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughan, as well as some of his own songs.

Xander Smuts, attending with his father Bertus, said he was looking forward to the performance. “My coach, Al Loxton, is the bassist playing tonight.”

A group of women told Lowvelder they were had to enjoy good music, good food and great company.

Yolandie van Niekerk and her friends envisaged, “fantastic great music and fun”.

During the performance, Sandra Jacobs said she, “loves Jonathan, and his performance is excellent”.

Boris Doerksen said that he is a music lover and has been hearing and reading about Peyper for a long time.

“If he can raise the hair on my hands, I will be thrilled.”

Peyper will be releasing his second album later this year.
