WATCH: Eagle steals snake and flies away

This Brown Snake Eagle(Circaetus cinereus) stole the snake from a Bateleur Eagle and flew off with it. A remarkable sighting indeed! Video courtesy of Kruger National Park's YouTube channel.

The Brown Snake Eagle feeds mainly on snakes, being able to kill venomous snakes such as cobras. They have natural protection against bites, with thick-skinned legs.

Besides snakes, the Brown Snake Eagle feeds on lizards and small mammals. We can only speculate which Kruger Park snake it was as there are 54 different snakes in Kruger National Park. ”

This video was filmed this year on our second trip to Kruger National Park in South Africa. We were driving to the lodge and saw the eagle and suddenly the bird stole the snake and flew away” – Video by: Mauricio Escalona
