The first coffee table book about Kaapsehoop’s famous horses

The long-awaited launch of a comprehensive, historic guide to the mysterious wild horses of Kaapsehoop.

KAAPSEHOOP-After years of immaculate photography, research and dedication, a coffee table book, Wild Horses of the Kaapsehoop Escarpment, documenting the history of the signatory wild horses of the town, will be launched on Friday 6 March.
Linda Louw conjured the idea of a fine art book, outlining the history and current state of the wild horses which have become synonymous with the old miners’ town, in 2009. She spent a considerable part of those six years photographing and researching the horses and finally put together the full-colour, hard cover coffee table book.
“It is time that people knew the story of the horses – where they came from and what we as humans can and should do to help them. It is our fault that they are here and we shouldn’t just neglect them.”
Louw will donate a percentage of all proceeds made on the book toward the Kaapsehoop Wild Horse Fund, which was started by the town’s residents to aid the horses. The book spans a whopping 200 pages and will set you back R 450. It will be launched at Kaapsehoop Horse Trails, just outside of town. The event starts at 17:00 on 6 March and entrance is R 50, including drinks and snacks. RSVP: Linda at 082 332 9784.
