SPONSORED | Samancor Chrome Mines partner with client to renovate Kgaladi Preschool

Samancor continues to support Kgaladi Preschool since it was first built by the company in the early 1980s.

Samancor Eastern Chrome Mines (ECM), in partnership with its client, GHH Mining Machines/Komatsu, recently renovated the buildings at Kgaladi Preschool in Ga-Mampuru Village, Steelpoort.

The management of these two companies visited the school on September 20 to witness the transformation. They also handed snacks and drinks over to the more than 130 pupils at the school. The attendees included the parents and the school management team.

“The two companies also partnered to donate chairs, a JoJo tank, blackboards and many more equipment to the school. All in all, we renovated the classrooms, painted them and also installed electricity in the classes. We are still planning to add more upgrades to this school,” said Lee-Roy Weber of Komatsu.

Samancor’s Pieter Brits urged the school management to take good care of the facilities.“ After these upgrades, we need to try and maintain this centre. Let’s refrain from damaging it and let’s keep it safe. This premises can assist the future generations. The management also has to work hard to produce the best learners they can.”

Representing the management of Kgaladi was principal Enock Maredi and a community member, Alex Mohlala. They thanked the two companies for investing in education. “Our school buildings were first built by Samancor in the early 1980s. We are happy that they have now returned to renovate these classrooms. We made the proposal to them about two years ago, but when they recently visited the school on Mandela Day, they realised we were really in need. We are thankful to have their support and assistance,” said Maredi.
