Isabella reaches her Bok dream in Mbombela

Isabella got to walk out onto the pitch side by side with Springbok captain Siya Kolisi.

Young Isabella Esterhuyse’s dream came true last weekend when she strode out onto the pitch at Mbombela Stadium as the mascot for the Springboks.

Isabella (10) hails from East London and is battling cancer. She has always had a dream of meeting the Springboks, and courtesy of the Reach for a Dream Foundation, this was finally able to come true at Mbombela Stadium.

The news broke to young Isabella via a letter from Reach for a Dream, wherein they informed her that not only would she get to meet the Springboks, but she would also walk out onto the park as their mascot, hand in hand with Springbok captain Siya Kolisi.

In a moving video posted to social media, she could be seen reading the letter from the organisation while crying tears of joy at the prospect of her dream coming true.

On September 28, Isabella got to sing the national anthem with pride as she stood alongside Kolisi on the field at Mbombela Stadium. She was able to watch the match with her family and witness the Springboks win a special Rugby Championship decider against Los Pumas.

After the match, Isabella was able to meet the Springboks, many of whom jumped at the chance to take photos with the young girl in the build-up to the trophy handover.

Isabella got to pose with the Springboks squad for a photo, but not before she got the special opportunity to hand over the Rugby Championship trophy to Bok captain Kolisi.

Thereafter she also joined in for the celebratory photo with the trophy, a truly fitting end to what was a very special night for this young girl.
