Youngsters learn from legendary Mark Fish in White River

The White River United Football Club is on a mission to grow soccer in the area.

The sound of 65 young soccer players enjoying doing what they love echoed around ANEW Resort White River on Saturday and Sunday, September 21 and 22.

The Football Union presented a soccer clinic for players aged five to 19.

The union is run by David Ribeiro and consists of a group of professional coaches and former pro players who travel all over South Africa presenting clinics.

The White River United Football Club hosted the clinic. The club was established in January and their main goal is to provide professional coaching and well-structured club football to all children in the area.

During the clinic, the players had the opportunity to be coached by Ribeiro, Mark Fish, Wonga Denga and others. The players received assessments and feedback from the coaches, which will help them identify their strengths, weaknesses and the areas of their game they need to work on.

“This is the first clinic of its kind in Mpumalanga and we are very pleased with the turnout,” said Roy Kwari, the head coach of White River United Football Club. “David and his team brought a wealth of experience and expertise on all things football and the kids loved every minute. We have great talent in our province and weekends like this help grow and create further exposure for these players. We are very thankful to our fellow football clubs, schools and parents for supporting this event. In the end, we all have the same goal – to grow our players and the level of football in Mpumalanga. Through our partnership with The Football Union, we look forward to hosting many more clinics and growing the platform for all football enthusiasts of our region.”
