Ever-popular CANSA Night of Thousand Stars returns to Sonpark!

Themed ‘Let's Sparkle’, this year's event promises to deliver that glitz and glamour Mbombela's social butterflies have come to expect.

The immensely popular CANSA Night of a Thousand Stars makes a sparkling return to Mbombela on October 4 after a five-year Covid-induced hiatus.

The last instalment of this glitzy event in 2019 saw the Rio Carnival roll into town, raising more than R180 000 for CANSA. Participating restaurants set their tables according to this festive theme, with Orange Restaurant, Zest and Doppio Zero clinching top honours.

This year’s event is themed ‘Let’s Sparkle’ and will offer prizes for the best-dressed couple, man and woman. With an MC officiating the programme and professional artists such as the ULTRACOUSTIC Duo providing ongoing entertainment, the evening is set to be one for the books.

The event’s ultimate goal is to raise funds for CANSA Lowveld and to support the community and patient services the organisation offers.

Sonpark Boulevard will be closed off for the evening and turned into a massive magical street restaurant.
This is an excellent opportunity for restaurants to showcase their unique services and excellent food, especially as the event has become very popular among the corporate and social scene in the Lowveld.

“Participating restaurants can book a table seating 20 or more people and then sell those tickets to corporate companies or their regular patrons. These restaurants will prepare and serve three-course meals from a streetside kitchen while the organisers will provide the entertainment and make all the arrangements,” said the organiser, Sandra Jacobs.

She said CANSA’s Night of a Thousand Stars was not only one of the most publicised and well-attended social events on the Mbombela calendar, but it also allowed restaurants, lodges, guest houses, caterers and chefs to be part of one of the most successful charity fundraising events in the city.

“It offers you an opportunity to showcase your establishment while at the same time contributing to a worthy cause,” said Jacobs.

Restaurants that wish to participate in the optional fun catering/chef’s competition will also stand a chance of winning some fabulous prizes, including prime advertising opportunities with the event’s media sponsors, a complimentary hamper filled with delectable goodies, surprises for the winning chefs and, of course, bragging rights.

“There is a large corporate interest and we believe this occasion provides an exciting platform for you to promote your facility and your cuisine. Let’s all come out of our comfort zones and do something special and worthwhile. Without you, we cannot host this magical event,” said Jacobs.

Participating restaurants will sell tickets at R500 per person, with R250 of this going towards CANSA.Corporates who wish to book tables for 10 or 20 people and individuals who would like to attend this very special function may call the following numbers for bookings:• Sandra Jacobs on 082 852 7885 or
