Kruger makes history with record number of arrivals through Skukuza Airport
The Skukuza Airport has received more than 360 arrivals thus far in September, a boon for Tourism Month.
Tourism Month started on a high note for the Kruger National Park (KNP) as the number of guests visiting the park through the Skukuza Airport is said to have increased.
This according to SANParks’ communications manager, Isaac Phaahla. “For the first time, on the 1st of September, which was the start of Heritage and Tourism Month, it was exciting to see the number of arrivals at Skukuza Airport. We had almost 365 arrivals, and that’s a first in the history of the airport. We saw big machines landing and making that history,” he said.
In light of Hoedspruit Airport acquiring an international licence, Phaahla says this will boost the arrival of international guests to the park
even more.

“We understand that progress had gone through in the Hoedspruit area where we are going to see more international flights coming in. What is most exciting about international arrivals is that we know that tourism is one of the sectors of the economy that creates employment. More people coming in means more development. More people from all over the world can come in to see the KNP and that’s very exciting, especially for this month, September,” he added.
