Tubatse Cricket Club beat University of Limpopo in Kharwan T20

The host team won the tightly contested T20 match against a tough Limpopo side at Tubatse Crossing Mall on Sunday, September 1.

The Tubatse Cricket Club successfully chased a 174 target posed by the University of Limpopo during the Kharwan T20 match at the Tubatse Crossing Mall on Sunday, September 1.

The home team won the match by three wickets, clinching the game in the 18th over, with the man of the match, Farhan Cheema, scoring an impressive 42 runs from 15 balls.

The visitors from Polokwane won the toss and chose to bat. They were exceptional during the power play, scoring with ease. Musa Diago was outstanding in getting boundaries from all angles of the pitch, but he was, unfortunately, caught while attempting a six. Diago departed with 49 runs, one run short of a half-century.

In chasing the 174 target, Cheema attacked viciously. In the 15th over, he hit 20 runs off Diago’s bowling, swinging the game into Tubatse’s favour.

The home team eventually won the game with 12 balls to spare.
Usman Ayub Rao, Tubatse Cricket Club’s coach, said their team had been unbeaten since the start of the year.

Rao also thanked all the sponsors and supporters who watched the match. The Tubatse Cricket Club won a trophy and gold medals for their efforts. The University of Limpopo went home with silver medals and a miniature cup.

The university’s coach, Tshepo Pudikabekoa, said they have played matches all over the country in recent months.

“We will regroup and ensure we win our next games. We are planning to invite Tubatse to our grounds in the upcoming months. They gave us a tough match.”
