Hi-Tech Medical Services’ Kagiso Diale said the officer was trying to pull over the driver of a red bakkie suspected of exceeding the speed limit near the Panorama Chalets. Instead of stopping, as required by law, the driver ran over the officer and fled the scene.

Categorised as P2 unstable, the officer sustained a suspected pelvic injury and closed femoral fracture. After being stabilised on the scene by Hi-Tech Medical Services, the decision was made to have the patient airlifted to Netcare Milpark Hospital where he would be able to receive the necessary specialised treatment.
