Piet Pompies nominated for four Afri-Indie Music Awards

Piet Pompies, a Mbombela-based musician and singer, has been nominated for four awards at this year’s Afri-Indie Music Awards. The ceremony will be held in Pretoria on August 7.

The Mbombela-based musician and singer, Pieter Rischmüller, better known as Piet Pompies, has been nominated for four awards at the upcoming 2024 Afri-Indie Music Awards, for both singles and albums he had released in the past year.

The South African Independent Artist Music Awards, better known as the Afri-Indie Music Awards, was established in 2019. The awards were intended to help acknowledge the brilliant artists, songwriters, music producers and videographers in South Africa’s independent music industry.

The aim is to reward these individuals for their entrepreneurial spirit that affects not only the creative community, but also the South African community, by and large.

Piet Pompies is no stranger to the Afri-Indie Music Awards, though, having won three LP Trophy Awards and one Framed Certificate Award in the past. It is therefore no surprise that he has received numerous nominations this year.

The awards ceremony will be held in Pretoria on Wednesday August 7, and Piet Pompies will be contending for the following awards:
• Best Gospel Single: “Christmas Star” ft West
• Best Adult Contemporary Single: “Khaki Hugo”
• Best Southern Rock Single: “Feel Good” ft Raymanband
• Best Southern Rock Album: Stories.
