Just 2/100ths of a second between first and second at Jock Classic in Sabie

The Lowveld once again welcomed road cyclists from all over South Africa for the annual race.

Carter Barnes and Reinhardt Geyser went wheel to wheel in the 2024 Jock Cycle Classic on Sunday July 14, with just 2/100ths of a second separating the two after 114km.

The annual Jock started in White River and finished in Sabie. Barnes (junior), Geyser (elite U23), Damian Gomez (elite U23), Marius Coutaud (elite U23), Luke Liebenburg (junior) and Ian Swart (junior) formed the initial breakaway group, but just after the halfway mark, Geyser and Barnes accelerated away from the other four riders and pushed each other to the finish.
