WATCH: Fire engulfs the Funchal Cafe in Barberton
The Funchal Cafe was destroyed in a blaze on Thursday February 1. Promptly responding to an emergency alert, Hi-Tech Security’s patrol confirmed the severity of the situation.

On February 1, a fire broke out at the local Funchal Cafe in Barberton, situated on the corner of De Villiers and President streets.

Rian Prinsloo, technical manager of Hi-Tech Security Barberton, stated that they received an alert from an emergency group about smoke emanating from the cafe at 18:30.

A patrol vehicle was dispatched and confirmed the presence of smoke. Prinsloo emphasised the heightened risk due to the cafe’s proximity to a gas supply shop.

While the fire was under control at the time of publishing, the entire cafe had been consumed by the flames, and the cause is unknown, according to Prinsloo.
