National boxing champs to hit Mbombela soon!

i’langa Mall will host some of the country’s best amateur boxers when they go head-to-head to find out who will be crowned SA’s new amateur boxing champ.

Get ready to see some of the country’s best amateur boxers go toe-to-toe in the ring at the Sanabo National Cadet and Junior Championships taking place at i’langa Mall from December 12 to 15.

Not only will more than 300 boxers from all nine provinces compete, it is also the first time a national event of this magnitude will be held here in our midst!

“Our goal is to raise boxing as a sport back to its former glory and inform the community that the sport is about more than just picking up a pair of gloves and climbing into a boxing ring,” said Lawrence Baird of Nelspruit Boxing Club, which in collaboration with the Mpumalanga Boxing Organisation, is hosting this year’s event.

Baird notes that this sport is not solely for boys, as girls between 12 and 16 are also participating alongside them.

The competitors are truly ready to give it their all and throw some knockout punches while they’re at it, but for them to be motivated to do so, the public is urged to come out and support this event to see who wins the title of SA Amateur Boxing champ in each division.

“It takes a lot of self-discipline, motivation, tact and self-control to get in that ring for a bout. With that said, and the hard work that our boys and girls put in, we ask that you come and support our local and provincial teams. Come and learn more about the sport and make it a family outing.”

The first weigh-in for the championships will take place on December 12 at 07:00, whereafter the bouts will start at 12:00.

Businesses are also invited to promote themselves at this national event. “Sponsorships are available on display between every round on the livestream as well as at the event in the form of traditional promotional marketing materials.” If you want to make use of this opportunity, contact local organising committee salesperson Amanda Joubert on 063 448 1696.
