Marais said they have staff who stood by them through tough and challenging times. He also congratulated the recipients and thanked them for their hard work, dedication and commitment.
“Today we are here to celebrate and acknowledge the employees’ long and loyal service to the mine. They were here with us during the good and bad times. Nothing is more important to us than our people going home safely every day.”
He urged them to share knowledge with young miners. “Let’s teach them proper rules to make DCM better. We thank you for bringing stability to the mine.”

“We work in diverse roles and all have a part to play in contributing to the success of DCM as individuals, teams, and as a driving force behind whole operations and functions. We will cherish the awards handed to us and we are grateful to the support from our management.”

The National Union of Mineworkers’ Patrick Mokoena thanked the miners for their loyalty. “Reward these miners. To the miners, I urge you to be devoted to your work.
“You survived all challenges including Covid-19. Well done on your achievements today.”
The event was concluded with the best-dressed miners being handed gifts. Performances from various entertainment artists and groups were rendered to celebrate this milestone.
