Kaapsehoop had its very first Friday the 13th Wine Walk and Ghost Tour that saw Lowvelders dress up in spooky attire for the occasion.
It was a spine-chilling, thrilling evening for the Lowvelders who participated in this town’s first annual Friday the 13th Wine Walk and Ghost Tour on October 13.
The tour started at Bohemian Groove Café. People arrived in their spookiest costumes, from zombies and Vikings to corpse brides and ghosts. The ghoulish guests were welcomed by Bohemian Groove’s owner, Andrea Fourie, who briefed them on the evening’s itinerary while they munched on some snacks.

Fourie, who was one of the organisers for the event, said 55 Lowvelders attended the tour, and that the turnout was beyond expectation. She said they had originally anticipated about 35 people.
After being welcomed by Fourie, the guests were greeted by Vincent Mansell, who regularly hosts ghost tours around Kaapsehoop. He walked the attendees from Angel’s Mist, Salvador, Silver Mist, some of Kaapsehoop’s historical buildings, Oppitoneel and Nagkantoor, while relaying the history of the village, as well as ghostly sightings and happenings that have been experienced by others throughout the years.
