A Zimbabwean and Malawian national arrested for allegedly stealing vehicles

The Limpopo SAPS recovered the vehicles at Ga-Masemola, close to Burgersfort and Steelpoort.

Two Toyota Fortuners were recovered on September 17 after they were reportedly stolen in Gauteng earlier this year. The vehicles were found during high-density operations by various SAPS units.

During this action, the police spotted two vehicles that were travelling in convoy and they followed them. The members of the Vehicle Identification and Safeguarding Unit were summoned to the scene for further investigations. Subsequently, the police discovered the vehicles had reportedly been stolen early this year in Roodepoort and Honeydew.

“The drivers of the two vehicles noticed that the police were following them and attempted to speed off to evade arrest. They were, however, cornered, stopped and searched,” said the Limpopo police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba.

The suspects, aged 31 and 40, will appear in the Sekhukhune Magistrate’s Court. A court date has yet to be set.
The police investigation is continuing.
