UPDATE: Seven accused of cash-in-transit robbery near Malalane back in court

The case against the seven accused of a CIT robbery in One Tree Hill has been postponed. They remain in custody.

The case against the seven accused arrested in connection with a cash-in-transit robbery at One Tree Hill has been postponed to August 31.

They appeared in the Tonga Magistrate’s Court earlier today, August 30, for a bail application.

The Mpumalanga National Prosecuting Authority’s spokesperson, Monica Nyuswa, said the state would be opposing the application due to the seriousness of the charges.

The seven accused are four police sergeants, Collen Cyprian Nonyane (47), Sunday Peace Mashego (41), Bhekinkosi Stanley Goddi (41) and Sibusiso Musa Vilakazi (38), along with Musa Bhekifa Ngwenyama (30), Ali Obi Ebrahim (24) and Lawrence Lubisi (44).

Ngwenyama, Ebrahim, Vilakazi and Lubisi were arrested following the CIT heist in One Tree Hill.

Nonyane, Mashego and Goddi were arrested following an incident near Kaalrug, when the police stopped a flying squad vehicle containing them.

They were all subsequently linked to the incident in One Tree Hill.

Following their appearance on August 31, the case was postponed to September 4 at the Tonga Magistrate’s Court for continuation of bail application.
