Business skills for young women at Mbombela seminar

A seminar was held in Mbombela to empower young people, especially women, with business skills.

Many young women were empowered during a seminar by the current Miss Hazyview, Nosipho Nyalunga, on Saturday August 5. She said the seminar aimed to educate young people, especially women, on entrepreneurship, self-development and leadership skills.

“We aim to donate food parcels, sanitary towels and school shoes with the profits of our ticket sales. I noticed that most young people go to tertiary institutions to obtain qualifications to find jobs instead of creating their own jobs. This is especially true about women, who end up being abused by men because they are depending on them. It is also good that we equip them at a young age and prepare them for the future,” she said.

Nyalunga reminded women to always respect and believe in themselves and grab the opportunities they come across with both hands. She said they must not let their background determine their future, but instead, they must strive to succeed in everything they do.

Among the speakers was a young businesswoman from Mbombela, Ntsako Mahlaule, who told attendees they needed to be transformed and have strong character.

“Women need to allow themselves to come out of their comfort zones and take risks in venturing into business. Before going into business, they must first check what they love the most and what is needed at that time, especially where they live. Most importantly, they need to adapt to the times in which they are living,” she said.

The women who attended the event were well advised on how to start and run their own businesses, be tax-compliant, secure funding opportunities, and manage their finances.
