TCN Roadhouse owner shot and killed in bed

The police recovered rifle and pistol cartridges on the scene.

The owner of TCN Roadhouse and Grills in Burgersfort, Chaka ‘Council’ Hlongwa (47), was shot and killed at his house in Mashifane Park on August 6 at about 16:30.

The Tubatse SAPS are on the hunt for the as yet unknown suspects responsible.

“The police responded to the scene after they were alerted by family members who made the discovery. They had become worried when the victim didn’t answer his cellphone, as he stayed alone. Upon arrival, they found the gate slightly open, as well as the door. They found him lying in a pool of blood with multiple gunshot wounds,” said the Limpopo SAPS’s spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Mamphaswa Seabi.

He said preliminary investigations indicate that the assailants had forced open the door to gain entry to the house before they proceeded to the bedroom where the victim was asleep, and shot him several times.

The police recovered rifle and pistol cartridges on the scene. A case of murder has been opened, and the motive is still unknown.

The Limpopo police commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has condemned what she termed a senseless killing. “We are confident our investigation team will do diligent work as they work tirelessly around the clock to bring those responsible for this senseless act of violence to book. We urge the community to come forward with information that can assist in the investigation,” she said.
