Jörg Schnarr murder suspect remanded in custody in KaBokweni

A murder suspect in the Jörg Schnarr murder case was recently remanded in custody while the manhunt for his accomplices continues.

A provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, has confirmed that one of Jörg Schnarr’s murder suspects, Napoleon Joseph Nyalungu, reappeared in the KaBokweni Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday October 19.

Nyalungu has been remanded in custody until October 28 when his bail application will be heard.

This follows the fatal hijacking of Schnarr and his companions on October 3, which hit global news networks, dramatically impacting South Africa’s tourism sector. The tragic murder sparked a concerted effort from the highest government authorities to make the Numbi road safer for tourists.

Meanwhile, the hunt for suspected accomplices continues.

Mohlala said, “We have a highly experienced team of detectives on this case and are confident further arrests will be made.”
