7 SA Infantry Battalion intercepts convoy of luxury 4×4 SUV vehicles in Mpumalanga
This brings the SANDF vehicle recovery total to six in the last week.
The deployment of SA National Defence Force members along the South Africa/Mozambique border continues to bear fruit according to a statement by the Joint Tactical Headquarters Mpumalanga. This comes after soldiers from 7 South African Infantry Battalion intercepted four stolen vehicles that had been headed to Mozambique.
On December 16 soldiers were conducting their routine patrols along the borderline around 01:30, when they heard vehicles approaching. The soldiers intercepted the convoy less than 100 metres from the border.

The drivers stopped and fled into the bush and left the following vehicles with keys in the ignition:
• Silver Toyota Hilux Legend 50
• White Toyota Hilux 2.5 double cab
• Silver Toyota Fortuner
• Bronze Toyota Hilux 2.5 double cab.
All four vehicles were handed over to the Tonga police for further investigation. In another incident that took place on December 14, soldiers recovered a grey Toyota Hilux 2.8 GD6 near Goba Village. The vehicle was handed over to the Mbuzini police.
Another incident took place on December 11 in which soldiers intercepted an orange Toyota double cab Legend 50 near the borderline fence. This brings the SANDF vehicle recovery total to six in less than a week.
The combined estimated value for all these vehicles is still to be confirmed by the SAPS and will be communicated to the public in due course.
