Three handsome young men crowned
The fourth Mr Mpumalanga pageant on June 4 saw three of the province's handsome men crowned with prestigious awards. The pageant was held at the Banquet Hall in the Nkangala District Municipality.
MBOMBELA – Jonathan Manyaka of Kwa-Guqa, eMalahleni, was crowned Mr Mpumalanga 2021. Christen Zimande of Bushbuckridge became the first titleholder of Mr Teen Mpumalanga while the KaBokweni-born Excellent Mbhokane walked away with the title of Mr Mpumalanga 2021 Ambassador.
Manyaka became the fourth titleholder of Mr Mpumalanga since the inception of the pageant. The boys’ competition was introduced in the province by the ABM Foundation in 2018 under the theme ‘a boy also need protection’.
“I am so grateful for the support I received through my journey to the crowning moment. It was not easy, but am happy that I was able to make it. I feel protected as a boy and I thank God for all he has done for me. As the new king, you should expect hard work, dedication and commitment. Mostly I will carry the title with dignity and fulfill ABM Foundation’s goals,” he said.
On top of the Ambassador title, the day also saw 29-year-old Mbhokane walking away as Mr Mpumalanga Physique 2021.

“Winning Mr Mpumalanga Ambassador 2021 is one of the biggest things I’ve ever achieved in my life. What makes it even more interesting is the understanding I have for this crown; that this is deeper than wearing a crown or having this title, but a perfect platform to make an impact and positive change in the lives of the less fortunate,” he said. “Being part of the ABM Foundation was a blessing in itself. Working with such ambitious, focused and hard-working teams was an eye-opener and it encouraged me to do more for my community and the province at large. To all the youth of the country: Nothing is impossible, you can achieve anything.”
