Department of Education has completed its vaccination roll-out programme

42 066 education and support staff members got their vaccine.

On Thursday the Mpumalanga Department of Education announced the completion of its vaccine roll-out programme. The programme commenced on June 23 and proceeded until July 14.

In a statement the department said, “The department takes this opportunity to express its gratitude to all teachers, officials and support staff who took advantage of the vaccination programme“.

The department’s spokesperson, Gerald Sambo, said the department would have loved to reach out to all its 53 000 staff.

“The department is however encouraged by the turnout and the enthusiasm displayed by those who took the vaccination. It is also grateful of the manner in which officials of the Department of Health coordinated this programme.

“The department appreciates the leadership that was provided by the education sector unions, associations of school governing bodies and by all who played a pivotal role towards this achievement,” said Sambo.

The teachers received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
