Locals toast Child Welfare at wine-tasting auction

As a way to raise funds, Child Welfare SA Nelspruit hosted a winetasting auction.

The event was held on Friday at La Petit Zest. It was a beautiful, intimate function with a delicious four-course meal, wine and live entertainment from Havanna – Music with Passion.

All the proceeds from the auction will go to the organisation. Temie Biyela, Child Welfare SA Nelspruit administrator, said, “These funds will enable us to continue our goal of keeping the children in our community safe.”

According to Biyela, due to not hosting their two annual fundraisers, they decided on a wine-tasting auction. “The annual events are The Amazing Race and the Peter Cruse Golf Day. We hosted this one after Melissa Skinner-Nunes of Violet & Rose approached us with the concept.”

During this event, not only did they raise funds, they also managed to raise awareness. Biyela said the auction was a great success.

“We managed to raise R44 169. “The funds will be used for organisational needs. They will help greatly in covering operational costs and assisting families within our reach of service,” she explained.

Biyela said they were grateful to those who attended and supported this initiative.

“We would like to thank Violet & Rose – Melissa Skinner-Nunes, Design Bar, Gina de Clercq, La Petit Zest, The Wine House Valdo, AVS Hire cc, Havanna – Music with Passion, and Garth Snyman.”
