Covid-19: Mpumalanga’s active cases stand at 656

South Africa has recorded 706 304 confirmed infections, according to an announcement by the minister of health, Dr Zweli Mkhize, on Tuesday, October 20. A total of 28 881 of those cases have been reported in Mpumalanga.

According to data released by the Mpumalanga Department of Health, there have been 27 633 recoveries and 592 deaths to date.

The number of positive cases in the province can be broken down as follows:

Ehlanzeni District

• Bushbuckridge: 1 038 cases, 960 recoveries and 18 deaths
• City of Mbombela: 5 506 cases, 5 161 recoveries and 59 deaths
• Nkomazi: 2 184 cases, 2 105 recoveries and 36 deaths
• Thaba Chweu: 465 cases and 437 recoveries and 13 deaths.

Gert Sibande District

• Chief Albert Luthuli: 786 cases, 751 recoveries and 19 deaths
• Dipaliseng: 342 cases and 326 recoveries and 15 deaths
• Dr Pixely Ka Isaka Seme: 961 cases, 935 recoveries and 18 deaths
• Govan Mbeki: 3 728 cases, 3 620 recoveries and 60 deaths
• Lekwa: 1 167 cases, 1 089 recoveries and 59 deaths
• Mkhondo: 569 cases, 529 recoveries and 29 deaths
• Msukaligwa: 1 693 cases, 1 614 recoveries and 46 deaths.

Nkangala District

• Dr JS Moroka: 401 cases, 390 recoveries and nine deaths
• eMakhazeni: 471 cases and 450 recoveries and 17 deaths
• eMalahleni: 5 614 cases, 5 463 recoveries and 101 deaths
• Steve Tshwete: 2 839 cases, 2 727 recoveries and 63 deaths
• Thembisile Hani: 654 cases, 627 recoveries and 20 deaths
• Victor Khanye: 463 cases and 449 recoveries and 10 deaths.
