The “Nkalakatha” hit maker, Mduduzi ‘Mandoza’ Tshabalala died on Sunday, September 19. The 38-year-old died after battling cancer of the brain for about a year. The kwaito star passed away while on his way to hospital after he experienced trouble breathing.

Known for his hits “50 -50” and “Godoba”, Mandoza started his career with Chiskop, a kwaito group formed with three of his childhood friends.

According to his former manager, Vaughn Eaton, they were on their way to the hospital and as they got to the gate, he just passed away. “He couldn’t breathe,” Eaton said.

He was admitted a week ago to hospital and was later released. The family confirmed that he was home and in a stable condition.

According to his son, Tokollo Tshabalala, he is happy that his father died a proud man because he had everything he wanted in life.

“Every time he would tell me that he never got the chance to spend time with his dad‚ so all he ever wanted was to raise his children.”

Mandoza made his last public appearance at the South African Broadcasting Corporation’s Thank You concert at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto last week.
