Limpopo DA promises service delivery

"Your rights and dignity are being violated. There is not a single structure that the ruling party has erected in Apiesdoring since the dawn of democracy. There are no crèches, no community centres, no electricity. The unemployment rate is also very high, yet you still vote for the same corrupt people who misuse your money and neglect your basic needs," he said.

BURGERSFORT – The Democratic Alliance’s Limpopo leader, Mr Jacques Smalle, promised an end to the housing-

and-water problems in Apiesdoring. He

was speaking at an event that was held at the village last Saturday.

“Your rights and dignity are being violated. There is not a single structure that the ruling party has erected in Apiesdoring since the dawn of democracy. There are no crèches, no community centres, no electricity. The unemployment rate is also very high, yet you still vote for the same corrupt people who misuse your money and neglect your basic needs,” he said.

Smalle urged the locals to vote for the DA in order to see change. “It’s your choice,

if you enjoy living in muddy houses, with no services then vote for them but if you want better homes, electricity and water, simply vote for us in the next elections. The DA will be bringing Mmusi Maimane to hear your hardships and solve them,” he promised.

He said he was ashamed to be a member of parliament after witnessing the hardships faced by the people in Ward 18. “I will engage with the Limpopo Government to bring water tanks to the locals as they cannot live without water. We are planning on erecting a fence around the graveyard where graves were destroyed by the recent storm,” he concluded.

The DA is contesting a by-election in the Greater Tubatse Municipality’s (GTM) Ward 18. Its candidate, Ms Lokie Maboyi, also urged the locals to vote for her party in the elections.

“We are always neglected by GTM when it comes to services.

“The top officials at the municipality want us to leave the Apiesdoring area as they have their own business interests. We were excluded from the current Operation Mabone because of the greed by the leadership of GTM. Tubatse is a rich municipality, but we still struggle for services,” Maboyi said.

The by-election will be held on May 6.
