‘Free’ houses for ANC votes

About 170 two-bedroom houses that the Chinese government built in Graskop was supposed to turn the votes in favour of ANC to regain the majority seats in the town.

GRASKOP – “The people were promised houses in return for ANC votes.”

A promise in exchange for votes backfired when Thaba Chweu Municipality officials and member in the office of the Premier apparently told residents in the area that they would receive free houses on condition that they vote ANC in the May elections.

About 170 two-bedroom houses that the Chinese government built in Graskop was supposed to turn the votes in favour of ANC to regain the majority seats in the town.

This, however, came back to bite TCM when they tried to sell the houses after the election and furious community members demanded what was promised to them.
