He was arrested on October 2, after handing himself over to the Hawks’ Middelburg unit following a drawn-out investigation into the alleged theft of approximately R500 000.

He appeared in the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court on Thursday on three counts of theft and one of defeating the ends of justice.

Provincial National Prosecuting Authority spokesman, Monica Nyuswa said Nkwanyana is alleged to have signed out money seized during rhino-poaching operations executed by other officers, and never signing it back in again.
