Christmas carols at Penryn chapel gets public into the spirit of Christmas

The carol service was organised by the Lowveld Chamber Music Association and the Penryn Private Music Centre.

MBOMBELA – The annual O Holy Night: A Christmas Celebration made spirits soar with a magical evening of musical performances on Saturday.

It was the first time that the Lowveld Community Orchestra performed.

“It becomes better and better every year,” said Felicia Lemmer, of the Felicia Lemmer Singing School, a regular participant in the concert.

Sempre Vino Choir, the Lowveld Community Orchestra and Hoërskool Nelspruit’s choir performed. Included in the musical set for the evening were Christmas classics such as “Hark the Herald Angels Sing”, the “Hallelujah” chorus and a very special version of “Silent Night” composed by Peter Anglea.

Snacks and refreshments could be purchased by guests outside the chapel entrance.

Director of the Lowveld Chamber Music Association, Walter Fourie also performed.

Fourie expressed the desire to take the annual event to new heights:”We hope more people will attend so that it will become an even bigger event in the future,”.
