The MTPA honours key role players in tourism

The winner of each category qualified to represent the province at the national ceremony on October 16 at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg.

MBOMBELA – Lowvelders outshone their competition during the provincial Lilizela Tourism Awards this weekend.

Tourism role players were honoured by the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA) at Nutting House on Saturday night.

The awards aimed at recognising and rewarding the highest levels of excellence in the tourism value chain. They were the ultimate reward for entrepreneurial and service excellence that set the benchmark in the provincial  tourism sector.

Mr Darryl Erasmus, chief quality assurance officer of the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa, said the entity is encouraged by the quality of products and services which entered the awards.

“Through their high standards they definitely help us deliver on the brand promise of South Africa being a tourism destination that excels in high levels of quality service excellence. These businesses’ continued commitment positively enhances South Africa’s global competitiveness,” he said.

Various establishments from the region were honoured. The winner of each category qualified to represent the province at the national ceremony on October 16 at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg.

Mr Abe Sibiya, acting CEO of the MTPA, said, “We wish to congratulate our provincial winners for their achievements and all their hard work as well as the effort they have put into positioning their products and especially the province.

“We believe that this achievement will enable others to learn from this outstanding work that is being delivered and further motivate others to participate.”
