Festivalgoers savour the best of the best

Festivalgoers are invited to the kykNET tent to taste and vote for their favourite koeksister from 13:00 to 16:00. The Huletts Koeksister Champion for 2016 will be announced on Saturday evening on the main stage at Innibos.

With two days down in the Huletts Koeksister Competition voting process, approximately a thousand votes have been counted and audited. This means there are 2 000 koeksisters left to sample before the baker with the most votes is crowned as Huletts Koeksister Champion 2016 on Saturday evening.

Daniel van der Merwe, who does the marketing for the competition, said this year’s competition is very exciting as entries were received from all spheres of society and from all around the country.

The Twist category produced some incredibly interesting flavours; chilli, chocolate and coconut to name a few.

“We received entries from supermarket suppliers to aunties who bake at home for their families. A finalist was chosen from each of the three categories; Business, Traditional and Twist,” he said.
“When visitors come to taste the koeksisters, they will vote for which colour is their favourite. The blue is for Business category and the white and red for Traditional and Twist respectively.”

Festivalgoers are invited to the kykNET tent to taste and vote for their favourite koeksister from 13:00 to 16:00. The baker with the most votes will go home with R100 000.
