Lowveld High’s best ready for Interhigh

LHS will be sending its best athletes for this year's Mediclinic Interhigh.

Lowveld High School (LHS) will be sending its finest to this year’s Mediclinic Interhigh.

Among them will be Frank Muwayi (u/17) and Nolwazi Mashaba for the girls (u/14).
Muwayi first represented LHS in 2013 and has done well for himself and the school.

Doing both the long jump and triple jump, his current best personal-best distances in the long jump is 6,66 metres and 13,37 metres in the triple jump.
One of the highlights of his career was the silver medal he won for

triple jump at the SA Schools Championships held in Polokwane at the old Peter Mokaba Stadium. Muwayi jumped a distance of 12,78 metres in the boys u/15 category.

Muwayi also said it is an honour for him to represent the school because not everyone is given the opportunity. “My expectations for Interhigh are to have fun, enjoy it and also to get a new personal best for the season,” he said.

Nolwazi Mashaba joined the “blue machine” in 2015 and has excelled in the long jump and triple jump. Her personal best as a 14-year-old is a 5,10 metres in the long jump and 10,98 metres in the triple jump.

Mashaba won a silver medal in the girls u/15 triple jump in the SA Schools championships at Royal Bafokeng last year.  She said her aim for Saturday at Interhigh is to better her personal-best distances and do well for her school.

“It means a lot to me to represent my school because of the good and quality coaching and support I get from my school,” she added.
