Exciting changes ahead for I’langa

"We have been waiting ages to announce I'langa's expansion, and now we can go big."

MBOMBELA – “We have been waiting ages to announce I’langa’s expansion, and now we can go big,” Ms Sandi Human, I’langa Mall’s general manager said in a meeting on Friday. It’s all systems go, and shoppers will soon notice that construction will commence in full force.

It is estimated that this brand-new shopping wing will open in spring 2016. It will showcase a total of 20 new retail spaces, some of which cannot be announced yet.

“It will provide sensational shopping,” says Human. The upgrade will ensure better flow, and you won’t necessarily have to walk till you drop, but shop till you drop instead.

It is said that the mall will double in size, with alternative parking to fit the need. Human’s enthusiasm for the expansion is tangible. “The new I’langa Mall will be worth the wait. We are adding more sensational shopping for our shoppers’ benefit, delight and convenience, as well as entertainment that will create a new shopper lifestyle for Mpumalanga.”

The development will include the relocation of Pick n Pay which will open with a new-look store showcasing its latest innovative in-store concepts and designs. The development will also include a temporary relocation of Game in early 2016, which will see this anchor tenant reopening in its original space later the same year, with a fresh new look and a more complete retail offering.

Edgars will almost double in size to an incredible 6 000 square metres, and will showcase select international brands in time to meet consumers’ 2016 festive-season shopping needs.

According to the artist’s impression, Edgars will reach from its original space to right next to iStore. Similarly, it’s anticipating an expansion of Woolworths which is currently evaluating its opportunity to go bigger and better. Watch this space!

Another highlight will be additional undercover parking which Lowvelders and visitors alike will appreciate with Mbombela’s fierce summer heat and warm winters as well as an all-new, state-of-the-art entertainment offering which will be announced at a later stage.

Human adds that the wishlist is long, but exactly how much of it will concretise remains unknown.

But the new developments do not stop there: Moving beyond 2016, the expansion collaboration between Resilient Properties and the Visagie Trust will oversee a total of 16 000 additional square metres by 2017, including more wow-factor fashion, entertainment, eateries and international brands, all in line with I’langa Mall’s ethos of offering sensational shopping in a sophisticated environment.

Human adds, “I’langa Mall would like to invite you, our loyal shoppers, to walk with us and experience this journey!”
