Remember: today is World Alzheimer’s Day

21 September is international Alzheimer's Day. Here is what locals did to commemorate the day.

MBOMBELA – In celebration of World Alzheimer’s Day, Alzheimer’s Mpumalanga (Ampu)paid a visit to Herfsakker Retirement Village to spoil their Alzheimer’s patients.

Ms Linda Barnard of Ampu handed out cupcakes and handed over a hifi system which Ampu has donated to Herfsakker. The hifi is to aid in music therapy, presented by Club Avanté, which is known to help alleviate the angst that comes with having Alzheimer’s.

The purpose of Alzheimer’s Day is to create awareness about the disease and to lend a helping hand to those living with the illness. Anyone who would like to know a bit more about Ampu or Alzheimer’s South Africa (ASA) can visit www.alzheimers.org.za.
