A special star shines for Venus

"Keira is always trying to help wherever she can and has a deep love for animals as well as people who seems so suffer."

MBOMBELA – For nine-year-old Keira Jacobs reaching out to those in need has always been part of who she is.

This time it was however a four-legged friend, Venus, that benefited from her kindness.

According to Keira’s mom, Elize, her daughter insisted to go to Pro-Life on Saturday. Upon their arrival Keira reached into her pocket and took out R100 she had recently received from the tooth fairy.

“This is to help pay the surgery Venus has to undergo,” she kindly said and stretched out her hand to hand it over.

Elize said she had no idea what Keira was planning to do and that Keira never told her she wanted to donate her tooth-fairy money. “But knowing that she is such a sensitive soul, I expected her to do something special,” Elize added.

“Keira is always trying to help wherever she can and has a deep love for animals as well as people who seems so suffer,” Elize told the paper and added that both dogs they own are rescued pups.

After Keira’s story was published on Pro-Life’s Facebook page it touched so many hearts, Elize said. According to her many people followed in Keira’s footsteps and donated money in order for the dog to undergo the much-needed surgery.

Venus did undergo surgery and although it seemed as if the operation was a success at first, Pro-Life announced on Wednesday that Venus was not doing so well.

“She had surgery on Tuesday and all was looking good, but her anus has prolapsed again. She will have to repeat surgery tomorrow (Thursday) and sadly this is our last hope and final attempt to save this precious girl,” Pro-Life posted on Facebook.

They asked the people to keep Venus in their thoughts and prayers.
