Five ways to detox your body

Kick start your detox today.

MBOMBELA – Summer is here.  If the idea of having to jump-start a summer diet sends you into a panic, try easing into a cleaner lifestyle with our four detox tips.

  • Add naturally detoxing fruits to your diet.

Fruits are high in liquid-content, which means that they aid the body in washing out toxins.  They are easily digestible and full of nutrients – an added bonus in the detox process.  Citrus fruits are particularly beneficial – lemons and limes aid the body in flushing out toxins.  They also contain nutrients that play a vital roll in the body’s enzymatic processes.

  • Vegetables will do wonders for your detox.

Green vegetables give a chlorophyll-boost to your digestive tract and are very cleansing to your system. Other foods like onions, carrots, artichokes, asparagus, broccoli, cabbage, kale, brussel sprouts and cauliflower will also assist in cleansing the body from the inside out.

  • Breathe

Focus on breathing deeply.  Oxygen aids the body in absorbing vitamins and nutrients.  Deep breaths allow you to absorb vitamins and nutrients more efficiently.  Deep breathing also increases oxygen levels, increasing the body’s oxygen levels.  This naturally detoxes the body.

  • Skin brushing

Your skin is, among other things, burdened with 10 to 15% of your body’s elimination processes.  These processes can be accelerated by dry skin brushing.  This process improves the appearance of your skin by eliminating dead cells and prompting the regeneration of new skin.  Dry brushing also stimulates blood circulation and the lymphatic system.

  • Exercise

Exercising is an easy way to kick start the detoxification process.  When you exercise, blood circulates throughout the body, bringing nutrients to all the organs and muscles.  Sweating releases toxins through the pores of the skin.
