Pet-sitting in Barberton area

Pet-sitting takes off in Barberton area

BARBERTON – Pet owners don’t have to rely only on kennels or catteries to take care of their pets before they leave home this festive season, they can now also book a pet-sitter.

A young man realised that there was a special need in the caring for pets. “I started with my business towards the end of 2012, when I realised that pet-sitting was a need and that it was was worth investigating.”

Marcél Eloff never believed that this business venture would take off so successfully.
“Today I have regular customers who trust me to look after their pets, in the comfort of their own homes. Especially dogs, that is part of the security at a home.”

Eloff also sometimes sleeps over when looking after pets. The services that he caters for include visiting the clients’ homes twice a day to feed the animals and give some attention, water plants and even to switch different lights on and off. “I also keep my eyes open for any sign of crime or any criminal intentions.”
But it is not only the pets with owners that Eloff care about. He also tries to look after stray animals and made a promise to donate money to the Barberton SPCA for every new client who comes his way.
Even Santa Cause for Paws benefits when Eloff sends an SMS charged at R20.
He is a member of the Aquila Youth Church in town. His email address is m.eloff@hotmail.co.za and can be contacted on 076-792-8080.
