MECs table more budgets for 2014/15

Various departments tabled their budgets for the current financial year to legislature last week.

MBOMBELA – Mr Eric Kholwane, MEC for economic development and tourism, tabled a budget amounting to R861,8 million for his department last week.

Of this, R332,6 million is earmarked for tourism and R242,9 million for integrated economic development. Of this amount, R171,6 million will go towards the operation of the Mpumalanga Economic Growth Agency.

Business regulation and governance gets R82,5 million of which R54,5 million is for the gambling board and R5 million for the liquor authority.

Environmental affairs used to be a function of the department which budgeted R81,2 million for this function. Since it has since been moved to the department of agriculture, Kholwane indicated that transfers will be made during the adjustment budget later this year.
