Hi-speed chase around city leads to arrest

A hi-speed chase involving Bossies Justice and Hi-Tech Nelspruit lasted for nearly 15 minutes before a young man was arrested.

NELSPRUIT – Earlier today five vehicles of Hi-Tech Security Nelspruit and Jacques Meiring of Bossies Justice were involved in a dangerous hi-speed chase around the city.

This was after receiving a call from concerned parents that their twenty-something year old son was on a drinking binge at his apartment in Murray Street. According to the parents the son was aggressive and busy destroying the contents of his flat.

Hi-Tech Nelspruit and Bossies Justice arrived at the scene to be told by the housekeeper that the man had left the premises and was driving a red Volkswagen Polo. Upon their leaving, the man returned home. “He noticed us standing in the road and sped up towards where we were standing,” said Meiring. “He nearly hit two of the Hi-Tech guards before speeding off again.”

The man was allegedly driving recklessly and both Meiring and the Hi-Tech personnel gave chase. The fifteen minute chase took them to Sonpark and back up the hill to Murray Street several times. In the process the man narrowly escaped a number of head-on collisions as he dangerously swerved through oncoming traffic in his efforts to evade capture.

“When we circled back towards Brits Street the man ploughed his vehicle into the side of one of the Hi-Tech response vehicles before fleeing again. Thankfully he burst a tyre as he misjudged the corner at Webber Street and abruptly ended the chase.”

As the vehicle came to a halt Meiring and the Hi-Tech security members arrested the man. Nelspruit SAPS arrived on the scene and charged the suspect with reckless and negligent behaviour.

Meiring found a box of wine and a half empty glass in the man’s vehicle and noted too that it appeared as if he had tried to slit his wrists. At the time of going to print no further information had been made available. The man is currently being held at the Nelspruit Police station.
