Pakistani shop owner murdered in Burgersfort

The community rushed to the scene after they had heard the gunshot, and found the victim lying on the ground, next to his vehicle.

The murder of a 48-year-old Pakistani shopkeeper has injected fear in the local communities in Burgersfort .
Saleem Ahmed was shot and killed by unknown criminals near his home in Ext 5 last Thursday, at about 18:00.

“Preliminary investigations showed that the victim, who had owned a spaza shop in the area, was driving home from work when he was shot at by unknown suspects near his home.
“The community rushed to the scene after they had heard the gunshot, and found the victim lying on the ground, next to his vehicle. The police and medical emergency services were alerted, and declared the victim dead,” said the Limpopo police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba.

The SAPS has opened a case of murder. “The motive for the incident is still unknown, however, investigations continue. A 9mm cartridge was found on the scene,” said Ledwaba.

The Limpopo police commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, ordered an immediate probe into the matter. “We appeal to the community to work with us on this matter by providing information about these ruthless criminals so that they face the consequences of their evil deeds.”

Saleem Ahmed was shot and killed by unknown criminals.
