Netball World Cup visits Burgersfort

The Netball World Cup will be hosted for the first time on African soil in Cape Town, from July 28 to August 6.

The Netball World Cup trophy tour continued on Monday, June 12 at the Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality
(FTLM) chamber in Burgersfort.

The FTLM’s chamber was filled to the rafters.

This historic moment was witnessed by all netball lovers and other sport-loving people who looked beautiful in their different sporting regalia.

Also in attendance were Netball South Africa’s president, Cecilia Molokwane, Sekhukhune District Municipality mayor, Maleke Mokganyetji, FTLM mayor, Eddie Maila, Exco members, councilors and municipal officials.

The Netball World Cup will be hosted for the first time on African soil in Cape Town, from July 28 to August 6.

The president of Netball South Africa displayed the trophy to the attendees and encouraged all the netball players to take the sporting code seriously and called on the government to support rural sports.

‘‘We welcome this trophy here in our municipality and wish our Netball SA team the best of luck during this prestigious competition and to win the World Cup,’’ said Maila.
