The Pumas and Western Province name their teams ahead of Friday’s clash

The Mpumalanga team are second on the log, with Western Province in fourth place.

After suffering a devastating last-minute defeat against the Cell C Sharks on Friday May 12, the Airlink Pumas travel to Cape Town to face the DHL Western Province (WP) at Athlone Stadium.

The match was originally scheduled to be played at the DHL Stadium, but after careful consideration a decision was taken to move the game to Athlone Stadium. The reason is to prioritise pitch maintenance ahead of the Vodacom United Rugby Championship grand final between the DHL Stormers and Munster on Saturday May 27. The Carling Currie Cup fixture between WP and the Griffons will thus also be played at the alternative venue.
